Position Summary:
To facilitate the day-to-day operations, lead, develop and represent the department in the service line initiatives. The registered professional is also accountable for the management of patient care during a designated time frame. The responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of care, teaching and delegation of patient activities to the other health care team members. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing and providing 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery with nearly 80 FTEs (primarily RNs with some techs and clerical staff), planning, and evaluation of services of one or more clinical areas. Further, the unit manager participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing service line and/or department improvements within multi and/or specialty units of responsibility. They are responsible for review and evaluation of operations and services in accordance with business requirements, marketplace trends and technological needs. Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating safe, superior and preeminent quality patient care to ensure the advancement of clinical practice and patient care for a nursing unit. Collaborates with and supports director and key UEM key leaders, groups and stakeholder audiences in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals and objectives. Education BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). Licensure Current Michigan License. Training and Experience Three years of clinical nursing or unit-level leadership experience What the Nurse Manager will
Do:
Demonstrates customer focused interpersonal skills in order to lead, interact and collaborate with hospital personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers and customers Demonstrates ability to utilize critical thinking; to identify and solve problems and implement solutions. Develops and implements effective ongoing communication process for optimal distribution of information within nursing service, among physicians and other health team members and hospital departments.
