Job Description

Overview Provides assistance to the nursing staff by performing clerical and record keeping functions. Qualifications Freedom from illegal use of drugs. Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); previous experience desirable but not required. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful. Language Skills Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members. General knowledge of medical and nursing terminology helpful. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Essential Functions and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily. Care and Services:
Schedule physician appointments and transportation Cancel physician appointments and transportation as needed Schedule transportation for Dialysis Patients Keep forms stocked in resident charts Completes room tray requests Upload documents into the Residents electronic medical record Update and hang resident profiles in room as needed. Maintains nursing supplies and orders lab supply File all paper copies into residents hard chart Takes photo of new admissions to upload into EMR and print copy for MAR Make sure residents receive name band on admission and audit as needed Print MAR and TAR monthly Maintains nursing equipment Maintains clinical forms needed at nursing station Assists with the documentation of resident admission, discharge, and transfer Inventory's and marks resident's personal possessions, clothing and valuables Communicates relevant resident information to Unit Manager, Nurse or SW Break down discharged charts for Medical Records Answers the telephone at the nursing station and directs calls Enters or records data timely and accurately Protects confidentiality of resident information Protects data against loss or destruction Reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues
