Job Description
RN/LPN UNIT MANAGER - LONG-TERM CARE
Full-Time Exempt Leadership Position Skilled Nursing Facility Rotating On-Call Required Lead a Long-Term Care Team That Makes a Difference Every Day We are seeking an experienced and dependable Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse to serve as Unit Manager for our long-term care unit. This is an opportunity for a strong clinical leader who enjoys developing staff, improving resident outcomes, and creating a well-organized, resident-centered nursing unit. The Unit Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing and provides daily leadership to the nurses and CNAs assigned to the unit. The right candidate will be visible, approachable, organized, and ready to take ownership of clinical care, staff performance, quality outcomes, and survey readiness. What You Will Do- Provide daily clinical and operational leadership for the long-term care unit.
- Conduct resident rounds and remain knowledgeable about changes in condition, wounds, falls, infections, weight changes, behaviors, and other high-risk concerns.
- Supervise, coach, and support licensed nurses and CNAs.
- Ensure physician orders, care plans, medications, treatments, and follow-up services are completed accurately and on time.
- Review nursing documentation, MARs, TARs, assessments, incident reports, and other clinical records.
- Lead staff accountability, orientation, competency development, performance improvement, and corrective action when needed.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in care conferences, clinical meetings, wound rounds, quality improvement, and survey-readiness activities.
- Monitor unit quality indicators and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
- Participate in the nursing leadership rotating on-call schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency support. What We Are Looking For
- Current, unrestricted Michigan RN or LPN license.
- At least two years of professional nursing experience.
- At least one year of skilled nursing or long-term care experience.
- Previous charge nurse, supervisor, or unit-management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of CMS requirements and long-term care standards of practice.
- Experience with PointClickCare or a similar electronic health record preferred.
- Ability to provide calm, professional leadership during staffing, clinical, and operational challenges.
