Job Description

HCA Healthcare seeks a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Clinical Decision Unit. In this on-site role, you'll coordinate patient care and flow for short-stay/observation patients, ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing practice. You will perform complex assessments, develop and update care plans, oversee admissions and discharges, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The coordinator supports quality and safety initiatives, mentors bedside staff, communicates with patients and families, and helps optimize throughput while upholding HCA's culture of compassion, teamwork, and continuous learning. Responsibilities Coordinate day-to-day clinical care and patient flow in the Clinical Decision Unit Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement evidence-based care plans Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure timely throughput Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on treatment decisions Monitor patient status, escalate changes, and ensure adherence to safety protocols Educate and support patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions Mentor and support nursing staff to promote best practices and teamwork Participate in quality improvement, documentation, and compliance initiatives Utilize EHR effectively for accurate charting and communication Support HCA's culture of compassion, integrity, and continuous learning Required Skills Clinical care coordination Acute care nursing Patient assessment Care planning Electronic health records (EHR) Interdisciplinary communication Triage and patient flow management Quality and safety protocols Staff mentoring/precepting Time management
