Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the assessment, coordination, and implementation of nursing and other clinical education programs. Develops and continuously evaluates the structure and process that supports internal orientations, continuing education, and staff development activities. Administers continuing education approval within appropriate governing bodies. Collaborates with nursing leadership to determine continuing education priorities and expectations. Provides leadership and supervision of daily operations for assigned services or patient care units. Ensures the delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a manner reflective of the Bryan Health - GIRMC mission, vision, values and beliefs. Possesses managerial and clinical skills appropriate to the scope of responsibility. Maintains 24/7 accountability for assigned unit(s). Supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.- Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2.
- Designs, implements, and coordinates in-service nursing education programs for GIRMC. Conducts needs assessment of the medical center and key stakeholders regarding education priorities. Establishes education and program plan based on needs assessment and alignment with the organizational strategic plan. 3.
- Directs GIRMC procedures for nursing orientation, onboarding, competency validation and preceptor expectations. Develops training programs for staff to be successful in all programs. 4.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff.

Designs and maintains assessments and measuring tools for course curriculum that supports course objectives, achievement tests, questionnaires, simulations scenarios, grading criteria and program outcomes. 18. Plans, establishes, implements, communicates and evaluates goals and objectives and mandatory completion requirements for the Nurse Residency program in conjunction with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). 19. Maintains regular communication and regional and national program partners of the Vizient nurse residency program. 20. Provides leadership and assistance to the Nurse Residency program advisory board, coordinates advisory board memberships and meetings. 21. Ensures GIRMC adheres to American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines to maintain training center status. As well as prepares for and effectively facilitates the American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum within the AHA guidelines. 22.- Timely, objectively, and constructively coaches staff as appropriate when practice and/or safety issues are observed or reported; ensures appropriate corrective actions are completed for staff when there is a failure to meet job performance expectations.
