Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse•Unit Manager to lead and coordinate nursing care within a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Unit Manager, you will oversee daily operations, supervise nursing staff, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes quality outcomes and staff development. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive supervision and management of nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing training. Oversee patient assessments, ensuring accurate documentation of vital signs, medical history, and physiological data using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations including HIPAA, long-term care regulations, and state healthcare laws while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality. Coordinate interdisciplinary team efforts to develop individualized care plans tailored to patients' needs across various settings such as acute care, geriatrics, behavioral health, or long-term care facilities. Supervise medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, tube feeding management, and other medical procedures following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Lead quality assurance initiatives including infection control practices, documentation accuracy (ICD-9/ICD-10 coding), and compliance with nursing policy standards. Facilitate discharge planning and case management activities to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization. Promote a positive team environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and leadership in managing care facility teams. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Extensive clinical experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; experience in emergency medicine or hospital medicine is highly desirable. Proven management experience supervising nursing teams within acute or long-term care settings; familiarity with nurse management practices is essential. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation and patient data management. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal tap. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), neonatal ventilators, or individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Competency in performing physical examinations, specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, and basic life support (BLS). Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively while ensuring compliance with healthcare policies and regulations such as HIPAA and NCQA standards.
