Job Description

UR Thompson Health is seeking a professionally mature, energetic, and creative individual who demonstrates leadership qualities demanded in the rapidly changing health care environment.
Schedule:
Full time - Primarily Days - Off shift and weekend management responsibilities required for this busy 24/7 emergency department

Main Function:
Provides operational and clinical management oversight for the 24 bed emergency department serving approximately 35,000 patient visits annually Has responsibility, authority and accountability for the clinical, financial and personnel management of the ED Leads the unit in a goal directed manner, which is congruent with the nursing service, hospital and system goals and philosophies Works closely with the Nursing Director and VP of Patient Care Services/ in assuring and meeting the strategic imperatives for the unit and hospital Directly manages all RNs and Nurse Leaders within the department Excellent customer service and clinical quality are articulated and formulated into operational plans and monitoring of outcomes Responsible for fostering interdisciplinary collaborative relationships with medical surgical team and the institution as a whole
Required Job Specific Competencies:
Professionally mature, energetic, and creative individual who demonstrates leadership qualities demanded in the rapidly changing health care environment Deep clinical expertise in emergency nursing, emergency preparedness, and acute triage, combined with proven management in human resources and operational design Demonstrates ability to manage 24/7 unit operations, departmental budgets, scheduling systems and personnel performance Thorough knowledge of nursing practice standards, emergency medical technology, and evidence-based clinical protocols Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strength in public speaking, and formal presentation skills Ability to analyze operational data (door-to-provider times, length of stay, left without being seen rates) to drive measurable quality and flow improvements Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide administrative guidance and consultation to emergency department personnel
Qualifications:
New York State license as a Registered Nurse in good standing National certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Nursing Leadership/Administration (NE-BC / NEA-BC) required within one year of eligibility
Education:
BSN required Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Business Administration (MBA) preferred
BLS, ACLS, PALS
required TNCC preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent, progressive emergency or critical care clinical nursing experience required Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated nursing leadership experience in high-volume emergency environment required

Position Salary Range:
$110,000-125,000/year
