Job Description

ICU Assistant Manager Salary:
$129,400 - $168,000
Schedule:
8:00 PM - 6:00
AM, Monday-Friday Shift:
Nights Schedule:
4×10-hour shifts RequirementsExperience & Skills Minimum of 2 years of relevant acute care experience Previous management or leadership experience preferred Demonstrates basic knowledge of management skills Ability to function as a staff RN Demonstrates excellence in clinical skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills License & Certification Current New York State RN License BSN required, or must be matriculated in a BSN program with an approved plan for graduation according to hospital requirements BLS certification through the American Heart Association required ACLS certification through the American Heart Association preferred; required if ACLS is required for employees within the department supervised Certification in area of specialty or CNML (Certified Nurse Manager & Leader) preferred; certification must be obtained within 3 years of hire Job Description Role Overview Responsible for departmental management, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and terminating employees in accordance with hospital policy Provides house supervision as required by the Division of Nursing Periodically provides direct patient care as needed Creates and maintains a culture of shared governance Works with the Magnet Program Director to align initiatives with the Nursing and hospital strategic plan and the critical components of a Magnet organization Responsibilities Develops and submits departmental goals and objectives aligned with Nursing and hospital strategic plans Develops and submits operating and capital budgets and reports variances as required Updates the FTE component of staffing budgets on a continuous basis Schedules staff according to budgeted staffing plans and department needs Assures compliance with governmental and state regulations and accreditation standards Assures completion of staff orientation, annual competencies, ongoing education, and required training Participates in educational programs and activities to maintain current knowledge and expertise Participates in and ensures department involvement in ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives supporting quality metrics, including core measures and patient satisfaction Develops evidence-based standards of care, policies, and procedures for the area of responsibility Ensures service excellence initiatives and organizational patient satisfaction goals are achieved Conducts monthly staff meetings to communicate updates and address departmental issues; maintains meeting minutes Utilizes multiple methods of communication to effectively disseminate information Adheres to safety standards for employees and patients Participates in committees, task forces, and projects as required Submits required work reports to the Division Administrator Integrates patient rights and nursing ethics into daily work practices Adheres to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals Delegates activities to staff in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act Adheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics Adheres to all hospital standards of care, policies, and procedures, including dress code, code of conduct, behavioral standards, annual mandatory education, and annual health assessment Performs all other related duties as assigned
