Job Summary:

The Unit Manager is accountable for the oversight and efficient planning of day-to-day coordination of clinical care and employee supervision on the assigned unit. Duties & Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for resident care on assigned unit
• Oversees resident care to promote the highest level of physical, mental, and psychosocial functioning possible for assigned units
• Ensures complete and prompt reporting of incidents with follow-up as necessary to Administrator and Director of Nursing
• Actively participates in committee/programs as directed by Director of Nursing
• Participates in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures based on identified needs
• Supervise nursing staff to monitor patient care
• Attend and participate in daily meetings
• Serves as liaison between family, patient, doctor and other departments
• Investigate all incident reports on patient conditions in weekly risk meetings
• Participate in annual evaluation of staff
• Counsel/Discipline staff as needed
• May be required to perform other related duties for which the individual is qualified

Qualifications:

• Must possess a bachelor's degree in nursing
• Prior administration experience and training in both nursing and administration
• Valid Rhode Island Nursing License
• Ability to read charts
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily when necessary
• Willing to attend and participate in education programs
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Ability to interact effectively with residents/patients, their families, visitors, and other staff members
