Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the VirginiaCommunity College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partnerwhere quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and culturallife of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond andbetween the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts,technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities. The Nursing Clinical Coordinator isresponsible for coordinating and managing clinical, laboratory, and simulation experiences for nursing students, including the developmentand implementation of clinical schedules and placement assignments. This position serves as a liaison among students, faculty, and clinicalpartners to ensure effective communication, compliance with regulatory and clinical requirements, and the successful delivery ofhigh-quality clinical education experiences that support student achievement and program outcomes.Major Duties andResponsibilities:
Develop, coordinate, and communicate clinical, laboratory, and simulation schedules and placementassignments for students and faculty, including managing schedule changes resulting from unforeseen circumstances and ensuring schedules aredistributed prior to the start of clinical experiences. Communicate timely and accurate information to students, faculty, andclinical partners regarding assignments, schedules, requirements, and other clinical-related matters. Advise faculty regardingstudent clinical performance, assist with maintaining clinical attendance records, and collaborate with faculty on student make-uparrangements. Serve as a resource for students and faculty and address clinical faculty concerns related to student issues duringclinical experiences, including select evenings and weekends as needed. Assist with monitoring faculty and student clinicalcredentials and compliance requirements. Maintain current clinical affiliation agreements and cultivate clinical partnerships thatsupport nursing program goals and student learning experiences. Assist with the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, orientation,training, and clinical/simulation observation of clinical faculty. Monitor faculty clinical workload calculations and relatedassignments. Support curriculum implementation, evaluation, and accreditation standards as they relate to clinical, laboratory, andsimulation activities under the direction of the Associate Dean of Nursing. Participate in Commencement, Convocation, college-wide,division, and department meetings; committees; task forces; projects; search committees; recruitment and community events; professionaldevelopment activities; and other assigned duties. Participate in scholarly and creative engagement activities, as well as serviceto the College and the community. Comply with all applicable College, Virginia Community College System (VCCS), local, state, andfederal policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines. Maintain required professional credentials and comply with requirementsestablished by accrediting agencies, regulatory bodies, and clinical partners.Special Assignments:
May berequired to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of anemergency declaration by the Governor.KSAs/Required Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted RegisteredNurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Demonstrated clinical nursing experience. Demonstrated teachingexperience in clinical and/or academic nursing settings. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiplepriorities. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated professionalism,teamwork, initiative, and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Germanna Community College and its nursingprograms. Ability to meet all clinical agency onboarding and compliance requirements, including but not limited to: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification Background checks Drug screening Fit testing Point-of-care testing validation Required immunizations and health screenings Additional agency-specific requirementsAdditional Considerations:
Experience coordinating clinical education experiences within a nursingprogram. Experience supporting student retention and success initiatives. Training and experience in nursing simulationeducation. Experience with accreditation standards and processes, including those of the Accreditation Commission for Education inNursing (ACEN) and other relevant accrediting organizations. Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with healthcareorganizations and community agencies.
