Job Description

Rutland Regional Medical Center seeks a Manager Nursing Unit to lead daily operations of an acute care unit. This role oversees clinical practice, staffing, and patient throughput to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The manager hires, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff, supports evidence-based practice, and drives quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, this leader advances performance improvement, fosters a respectful, learning-oriented culture, and aligns unit goals with the hospital's community-focused mission. Responsibilities Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the nursing unit Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care Supervise, schedule, and develop nursing and support staff Drive quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulations, and accreditation standards Manage unit resources and support budget goals Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient care and throughput Foster a supportive, respectful, and learning-focused team culture Engage patients and families through clear, compassionate communication Use data and EHR systems to monitor outcomes and guide decisions Required Skills Nursing practice (acute care) Staff supervision & scheduling Patient care coordination Clinical quality & safety management Electronic Health Records (EHR) Budgeting & resource allocation Regulatory & accreditation compliance Performance improvement/LEAN methods Patient & family communication Interdisciplinary team leadership
