Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during the afternoon shift, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure optimal team performance. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and evaluation of care needs across various specialties such as geriatrics, behavioral health, pediatrics, and acute care. Administer medications and injections following HIPAA regulations and nursing policies, including IV infusions, catheter care, tube feeding, and medication management. Oversee medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping in compliance with state healthcare regulations. Manage patient care plans, discharge planning, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless transitions of care. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and safety standards such as basic life support (BLS), airway management, and ventilator care. Maintain compliance with long-term care regulations and nursing policies while managing staff schedules and supervising daily operations effectively. Skills Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including long-term care residents, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or memory care needs. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, CPT coding for procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization. Skilled in utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation and case management. Demonstrated leadership in supervising nursing teams within hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or emergency medicine settings; experience managing staff in high-pressure environments like Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly valued. Expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, venipuncture (phlebotomy), sterile processing, catheterization, and tube feeding. Familiarity with state healthcare regulations related to nursing home operations and long-term care facilities; knowledge of HIPAA compliance is essential. Excellent communication skills for managerial coordination with multidisciplinary teams; ability to handle triage situations efficiently. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments involving physiology knowledge and diagnostic evaluation to inform treatment decisions.
