Job Summary Under the direction of the Nurse Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the direction and coordination of all functions in the unit to include ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care provided. Provides support to the nursing unit on operational metrics such as productivity, Huron Rounding compliance, behavioral based competencies, Kronos. Works with Director to ensure that staffing grids, and FPC are up to date and current needs are reflected. Works directly with House Supervisors to provide appropriate and timely admission to the facility taking into account current census, inpatient emergency transfers, acuity of the patient, and services provided at each location. Works with Director, House Supervisor, CNO, and Nursing Administrators to ensure that high census surge plans are periodically reviewed and adjusted as service lines change, units close, open, or merge. Surge plans will reflect bed placement across all campuses based on individual patient need, campus capacity, and services offered. Meets regularly with nursing team to ensure consistency in provision of services, resource management 24hrs/day, service excellence to include all ICARE Values, culture of 'yes' to accommodate physician partners/patient admissions. Provides timely feedback to staff and works to support their personal/professional growth and development. Provides leadership for nursing staff to meet the needs of onboarding nurses, nurse graduates, and experienced nurses in a variety of modalities including but not limited to: nursing orientation, individualized follow up during the onboarding period, internships, skills fairs, and skill evaluation on the unit. Models professionalism for staff to include obtaining and maintenance of specialty certification(s) and continuing education The Nurse Manager is responsible for the direction and coordination of all nursing related functions in The Village to include ongoing assessment of the quality of resident care provided. Provides support to the nursing function on operational metrics such as productivity, Huron Rounding compliance, behavioral based competencies, Infor training and utilization. Responsibilities Problem Solving Assumes responsibility for effectively addressing issues and solving problems utilizing professional judgment as evidenced by a satisfactory resolution. Manages stressful situations in a professional and appropriate manner. Clinical Excellence (Quality) Formulates staff schedule and oversees compliance with attendance, managing outliers along with the Director as needed. Identifies and effectively assists in implementation of strategic plans. Actively participates in department and hospital strategic planning and effectively implements programs and services. Conducts daily environment of care review to ensure compliance with TJC standards, federal, state and local regulatory guidelines. Finance Maintains effective utilization of staff resources, equipment, and supplies. Demonstrates efficient cost consciousness by organizing work processes within established deadlines, and using supplies, equipment, and time according to budget. Employee & Physician Engagement Supports team objectives by focusing on team results, handling conflict in a positive manner, sharing information and resources, and listening effectively to team members, and assuming accountability for personal contributions. Holds staff accountable for contributing to teamwork on the unit. Collaborates with Unit Leadership/Staff to develop and deliver strategic employee engagement action plan. Service Excellence Participates in Nurse Leader Rounding on unit in conjunction with Nurse Director; Rounds by assignment and provides feedback to nursing staff following rounds. Creates/fosters a positive environment. Leads by example and holds staff accountable for the ICARE values, their behavior and attitudes. Maintains up to date knowledge of nursing standards, evidence based practices and regulatory guidelines. Conducts and monitors audits, quality assurance reviews and corrective planning as assigned. Performance Improvement project, monthly data collection. Present at the hospital Quarterly Quality Meetings. Responsible to cover DON for time card management. Works with Director to ensure that staffing grids and FPC are up to date and current needs are reflected. Works directly with Case Managers to provide appropriate and timely admission to the facility considering current census, in-resident emergency transfers, acuity of the resident, and services provided at each location. Works with Director and Administration to ensure that high census residents are periodically reviewed and adjusted as services change. Tiering will reflect bed placement based on individual resident needs and services offered. Meets regularly with nursing team to ensure consistency in provision of services, resource management 24hrs/day, service excellence to include all ICARE Values, culture of 'yes' to accommodate physician partners/resident admissions. Provides timely feedback to staff and works to support their personal/professional growth and development. Provides leadership for nursing staff to meet the needs of onboarding nurses, nurse graduates, and experienced nurses in a variety of modalities including but not limited to: nursing orientation, individualized follow-up during the onboarding period, internships, skills fairs, and skill evaluation. Models professionalism for staff to include obtaining and maintenance of specialty certifications and continuing education. Rotate On-Call with the Director of Nursing and the Resident Care Coordinator for a period of 10 days a month and PTO coverage. Assist in the scheduling and hiring of nursing employees. Assist in performance and evaluation of nursing staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Light Work:
Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience on unit;
Preferred:
leadership/management experience. Working Conditions Office setting with daily use of computer and general office equipment. Daily interaction with clinical and non-clinical staff. Clinical setting with resident interaction and exposure to clinical environment. Competencies and Skills Exceptional communication skills to maintain successful relationships with employees, residents, colleagues and physicians. Time management and organizational abilities to be successful as a leader. Budget management proficiency Education Associate's Degree (Required) Bachelor's Degree Credentials Registered Nurse (Required) Basic Life Support (Required)
