SELECTION PROCEDURE
This is a
PROMOTIONAL ONLY
recruitment to establish an eligibility list, fill a vacancy and hire substitutes. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent employees. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. Promotional examinations shall be restricted to probationary and permanent employees of the District who meet the qualifications of the class. The current vacancy is part-time, 32.5 hours per week, 10 months per year. The recruitment process will consist of a written examination and an oral technical interview, which are tentatively scheduled during the weeks of September 14-25, 2026 . (Download PDF reader) Basic Function Under the direction of a Manager-Nutrition Services, operate a food service satellite at an assigned school facility; complete final preparation of foods received from the central kitchen; maintain satellite facility and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner, train and provide work direction to staff at an assigned food service location, and prepare records and reports as directed.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Nutrition Services Satellite Operator II plans menus based on guidelines received from the Nutrition Services office; orders food and supplies needed in order to prepare a wide variety of menu items for breakfast, lunch and snack. Incumbents are required to exercise independent judgment and be able to forecast items needed in order to prepare menus that maintain or increase participation. Nutrition Services Satellite Operator I order and prepare items for breakfast and lunch; menu and forecasting is planned by District Nutrition Services Office. Education & Experience Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above including one year of increasingly responsible experience in quantity food preparation and service. Licenses and Other Requirements The possession of a "Food Safety Certification" issued by an approved organization must be obtained within five months of employment. Some positions may require the use of a personal automobile and possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
