This position provides various nutrition services related functions according to professional standards and Logan Health policies and procedures. As applicable to assigned area(s), this position performs preparation and delivery of food, barista, dishwashing, etc.

Logan Health is looking for a friendly and dependable Grounds & Grains Team Member (PRN) to join our Nutrition Services team! In this role, you'll help create a welcoming cafĂ© experience for caregivers, patients, visitors, and staff by preparing quality beverages and fresh food offerings while supporting daily cafĂ© operations. From the first cup of coffee to a quick lunch between meetings, you'll help keep the Logan Health community energized throughout the day. As a PRN team member, you'll enjoy the flexibility of supporting the cafĂ© based on department needs, with opportunities to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Grounds & Grains Team Member, you'll play an important role in providing excellent service and maintaining a positive café experience.
You'll:
  • Craft espresso drinks, coffee beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks with consistency and care
  • Prepare and serve made-to-order menu items including pizzas, sandwiches, bagels, breakfast items, and other cafĂ© offerings
  • Restock and maintain grab-and-go food, beverages, snacks, and pastries to ensure a fresh and inviting cafĂ© experience
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service to hospital staff, patients, visitors, and guests
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process customer transactions
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation and service areas
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards
  • Assist with opening, closing, stocking, and other daily cafĂ© operations
  • Support Nutrition Services operations as needed based on department needs
Who You Are:
We're looking for someone who enjoys creating positive experiences and takes pride in providing excellent service.
You are:
  • Friendly, dependable, and committed to creating a welcoming experience for every guest
  • Comfortable preparing a variety of beverages and food items in a fast-paced cafĂ© environment
  • Experienced in food service, hospitality, retail, cafĂ©, or customer service settings (preferred)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple tasks while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Able to work independently when needed while also contributing positively as part of a team
  • Comfortable using technology, including point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications
  • Certified in ServSafe or Food Handlers—or willing to obtain certification within six months of hire

Schedule:
Flexible Scheduling, with varied shifts based on department needs, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed. PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs. Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
