Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE OF POSITION
Ensure smooth and efficient operation of Child Nutrition Programs, lead Student Nutrition Team Members and provide meals for program participants while following all federal, state, and local rules, regulations and policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
A. Comply with USDA's Child Nutrition Program regulations. Monitor and comply with federal, state and district policies and procedures. B. Serve as immediate supervisor of Student Nutrition Team Members. Inspire and motivate others to perform well, clearly communicate expectations, and give appropriate coaching and/or recognition. Assist with evaluations. Contribute to decisions regarding the hiring of new employees. Assign work schedules. Ensure work duties are covered when yourself and/or Team Members are not able to come to work. Verify timecards, leave requests, and submit injury reports. C. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Make prompt decisions and explain reasoning for decisions. Prioritize and plan work activities efficiently and seek opportunities to be more efficient. Delegate work and monitor accordingly. Conserve organizational resources. D. Prepare monthly physical inventory for food within kitchen and storage areas. Prepare orders so that an adequate supply of food is always in storage areas. Prepare weekly orders for food and supplies according to menus as provided from Student Nutrition Office. Verify delivery quantities on invoices to ensure charges agree with amounts of food delivered. Check food quality as it is received from local suppliers and report unsatisfactory products immediately. E. Instruct all employees in acceptable methods of sanitation as it pertains to food handling, kitchen equipment, and the personal habits of employees. Ensure all food is stored safely, work areas are clean and neat, and all equipment has been properly cleaned and returned to its proper place. F. Safely operate, use properly, and care for equipment used in preparation and serving of meals and instruct Student Nutrition Team Members to do the same. Recognize problems of operation with equipment and report equipment failures and malfunctions immediately to Student Nutrition Office. G. Plan and provide additional food service events for student-oriented activities. H. File monthly and daily food service and financial reports promptly and in a timely manner. Responsible for accurate counting of monies received daily, preparing deposit, and compiling of daily service record. I. Perform other duties as assigned.
