Position Description

ACS Substitute Nutrition Technician

Goal:

To assist the School Nutrition Manager in the efficient operation of the cafeteria by preparing and serving nutritious and attractive meals for students and staff in a pleasant environment while maintaining a clean and sanitary work area.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma

Ability to work in environments that may be uncomfortable, wet, and slippery

Ability to work in the temperatures found in hot kitchens and the walk-in refrigerators and freezers

Ability to understand and adhere to safety procedures and take precautions required to avoid cuts, bruises, burns, scalds, and falls

Ability to understand and follow directions in English, both oral and written, to ensure safety of food preparation and service

Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations

Ability to keep accurate records

Experience in commercial food service preferred

Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues

Ability to follow standardized recipes

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Job Responsibilities

Prepare food items according to the daily menu, production schedule, and standardized recipes

Follow written and verbal instructions for pre-portioned items, cooking, serving, and cleanup

Assemble ingredients, utensils, and equipment needed for meal preparation

Serve food to students and staff in appropriate portions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor

Maintain composure and a positive attitude with coworkers, staff, and students

Monitor and record food temperatures and cooking times in compliance with HACCP and food safety guidelines

Set up serving lines, ensure availability of serving utensils, and maintain cleanliness throughout serving

Appears clean, neat, and wears proper attire

Maintains cleanliness and sanitization of equipment, food preparation and serving areas, and storage areas, and safely handles and stores utensils, pans, serving ware and cookware

Assists in stocking supplies and monitors inventory, rotates food products as scheduled

May serve as cashier, operating a point-of-sale terminal and collecting monies.

Performs all duties in compliance with school, District and Health Department policies, procedures, and standards of quality and care

Prepares accurate work records as required; may enter and retrieve computer data as needed

Attends training and meetings as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills

Engage in continuous physical activity during serving hours (walking, standing, lifting, stooping, climbing)

Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the School Nutrition Manager or school administration

Perform tasks consistent with other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee

This job operates in a kitchen with the use of commercial food service equipment such as ovens, warmers, dishwashers, etc.

Salary:
