Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients restore function, improve independence, and enhance quality of life across a variety of care settings. You'll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document progress in alignment with best practices. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, including standardized assessments, to determine functional limitations and patient goals. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans focused on improving independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs. Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions addressing strength, range of motion, coordination, cognition, sensory processing, and functional mobility. Recommend, train, and adjust adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and environmental modifications for home, work, and community settings. Fabricate or fit basic splints/orthoses and provide instruction in proper wear and care as appropriate to patient needs. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs, safety strategies, compensatory techniques, and community resources. Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR). Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, PT, SLP, social work, and case management, to coordinate patient-centered care and discharge planning. Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice initiatives, and ongoing professional development activities within Ohio Health. Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and professional standards of practice, including infection control and patient safety policies. Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning Knowledge of acute care, inpatient rehab, and/or outpatient rehabilitation practices Proficiency with ADL and IADL training Upper extremity rehabilitation and functional mobility training Splinting and orthotic management (basic level) Adaptive equipment assessment and training Home and workplace safety assessment and modification planning Cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation techniques Patient and caregiver education Use of standardized OT assessments and outcome measures Electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) documentation Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Time management and caseload prioritization Understanding of reimbursement and regulatory requirements in healthcare Evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning
