• school based experience needed We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Occupational Therapist to join our educational team, committed to enhancing the learning and developmental experiences of students with diverse needs.

In this vital role, you will assess, plan, and implement tailored occupational therapy programs that support students' functional abilities, promote independence, and facilitate their success within the school environment. Your expertise will help students overcome challenges related to disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other health conditions, ensuring they receive comprehensive support to thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities. Develop individualized treatment plans that align with each student's unique needs and educational goals. Implement evidence-based occupational therapy programs focused on improving fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-care abilities, and functional independence. Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting to foster independence. Collaborate closely with teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other team members to coordinate care plans and support student progress. Support students with disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders by providing targeted interventions. Maintain accurate clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and confidentiality protocols. Participate in discharge planning for students transitioning between services or settings, ensuring seamless continuity of care. Engage in case management activities to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary. Provide guidance to educators and families on implementing therapeutic strategies within the classroom or home settings. Qualifications Valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist with specialization or experience in pediatric occupational therapy. Proven experience working with children in school settings or early intervention programs. Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, anatomy, neurodevelopmental disorders, and autism spectrum disorders support strategies. Experience conducting occupational therapy assessments and developing treatment plans tailored for students with disabilities or special education needs. Familiarity with medical documentation standards, clinical interprofessional collaboration, and electronic health records (EHR) management. Ability to assist with ADLs and implement occupational therapy programs that promote functional independence. Excellent client communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, educators, and healthcare teams. Prior experience working in outpatient clinics, inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is advantageous but not required; school experience is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pediatrics and neurodevelopmental conditions is essential.
