Qualifications:

Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) required Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and school staff Understanding of safety procedures and adaptive equipment for O&M training Ability to develop and implement individualized O&M plans Strong report writing and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Assess students' orientation and mobility needs using established evaluation tools Design and deliver customized O&M instruction to help students travel safely and independently in various settings (indoor/outdoor, public transportation, school campuses) Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student Provide training and consultation to staff and families regarding best practices in O&M Prepare progress reports, document student outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings as needed Stay current on the latest developments in O&M strategies and assistive technology This contract opportunity allows you to make a significant impact on students' educational journeys in a supportive environment.
