Job Description
Encompass Health seeks an Acute Rehab Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team in delivering high-quality inpatient rehabilitation care. In this role, you will assess functional abilities, design individualized treatment plans, and provide hands-on therapy to help patients regain independence in daily activities after major illness, injury, or surgery. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and therapists, educate patients and families, support safe discharge planning, and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, integrity, and continuous professional growth. Responsibilities Provide evidence-based occupational therapy evaluations and treatments for acute rehab patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence in ADLs and IADLs Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT, SLP, nursing, and physicians to coordinate comprehensive care Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive equipment Document assessments, treatment notes, and progress in accordance with regulatory and Encompass Health standards Participate in care conferences, discharge planning, and goal-setting to support safe transitions of care Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices within the rehab program Mentor and support therapy staff and students as appropriate Required Skills Acute inpatient rehabilitation Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment ADL and IADL retraining Neurological and orthopedic rehab Treatment planning and goal setting Interdisciplinary care coordination Patient and family education Documentation and EMR proficiency Therapeutic modalities and interventions Assistive devices and adaptive equipment training
