Job Description
Encompass Health seeks a Hospital Occupational Therapist to provide patient-centered rehabilitation services in an acute inpatient setting. You will assess functional abilities, design and deliver individualized treatment plans, and focus on maximizing independence in daily activities following illness or injury. Working in an interdisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapists, educate patients and families, and document clinical progress. Responsibilities Evaluate patients' functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans in a hospital rehabilitation setting. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve patients' activities of daily living, motor skills, cognition, and safety awareness. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, PTs, and speech therapists to coordinate comprehensive rehab care. Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices to support safe discharge. Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory, hospital, and professional standards. Participate in team conferences, care planning meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Supervise and mentor therapy assistants or students as appropriate, promoting best practices and professional growth. Maintain a safe, clean therapy environment and adhere to all infection control, safety, and compliance policies.
