Job Description
Encompass Health seeks an Occupational Therapy Specialist to deliver high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation services in our inpatient rehab hospital. In this patient-centered role, you will assess functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to improve independence in daily activities. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, while educating patients and families on home programs and safety. Responsibilities Evaluate patients' functional status, cognitive abilities, and ADL performance Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans Provide therapeutic interventions to restore or enhance independence and safety Document assessments, goals, and progress according to regulatory standards Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety Participate in discharge planning and recommendations for post-acute services Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives Mentor or support therapy staff and students as assigned Required Skills Patient assessment and evaluation Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training Neuromuscular re-education Therapeutic exercise and activity grading Cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation Home safety and discharge planning Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Interdisciplinary team collaboration Adaptive equipment selection and training Knowledge of rehabilitation outcome measures
