$36.00 - $48.00 per hour (commensurate with licensure and experience) About the Program Our multi-discipline day program provides comprehensive therapeutic and developmental services to neurodivergent children between the ages of 5 and 12. Our collaborative team includes licensed therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, expressive arts therapists, and special educators who work together to deliver individualized, strength-based care in a structured and nurturing environment. Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and adaptable per diem Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our interdisciplinary clinical team on an as-needed basis. The per diem OT will provide evaluation, individual, and group treatment services that support children's participation in meaningful daily occupations through sensory processing, motor development, executive functioning, and self-regulation. This role is ideal for a clinician who values schedule flexibility and thrives in a collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming environment. The OT will coordinate closely with families, caregivers, educators, and fellow clinicians to ensure continuity and quality of care during each assignment. Key Responsibilities Clinical Services Provide individual and small-group occupational therapy to children ages 5-12 presenting with a range of neurodevelopmental profiles, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorder, ADHD, developmental coordination disorder, and co-occurring behavioral or mental health conditions Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations addressing sensory processing, regulation, fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor integration, oral motor skills, and activities of daily living (ADLs) as assigned Implement and carry forward individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team Deliver sensory integration and regulation interventions to support children's ability to engage in therapeutic and educational activities Support and facilitate therapeutic groups targeting sensory regulation, executive functioning, social participation, motor planning, and ADLs Address activities of daily living including dressing, feeding, hygiene, and other functional self-care skills Collaborate with educators and program staff to support sensory-friendly classroom environments and individualized sensory diets Monitor and document client progress using evidence-based outcome measures Collaboration & Communication Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings when scheduled during assignment days Maintain open, consistent communication with parents and caregivers regarding treatment goals, home programming, and adaptive strategies Coordinate with the primary clinical team to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care between per diem and regular staff Provide caregiver coaching and education to promote carryover of sensory regulation, ADL plans, executive functioning, and participation strategies across daily routines Provide consultation to program staff on sensory supports, environmental modifications, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to participation Documentation & Compliance Complete all clinical documentation in a timely manner in accordance with program, licensing, and payer requirements, including session notes, evaluation reports, progress summaries, and discharge documentation Develop strengths-based, occupation-focused goals that reflect each child's and family's interests, priorities, and meaningful occupations Maintain compliance with HIPAA, state licensure regulations, and program policies Participate in required training activities and orientation as needed Qualifications Required Active, unrestricted Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of practice Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program; master's or doctoral degree preferred Current National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification Experience working with neurodivergent populations and pediatric mental health, including children with ASD, sensory processing differences, ADHD, developmental coordination challenges, and co-occurring behavioral or mental health conditions Proficiency in conducting occupational therapy evaluations and developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans Strong foundation in sensory integration theory, assessment, and intervention and its application to function Demonstrated ability to integrate quickly into an interdisciplinary team environment Preferred Experience in a day treatment, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient program setting Training or certification in Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI), SIPT, DIR/Floortime, STAR Framework, or other neurodiversity-affirming OT models Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with children and/or adolescents Advanced training in oral motor and feeding support Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for children with complex needs Experience facilitating sensory, regulation, or motor-based groups for children Prior per diem, PRN, or contract therapy experience Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems Core Competencies Neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-focused, strengths-based, and trauma-informed clinical perspective Excellent interpersonal skills with children, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues Cultural humility and commitment to equitable, inclusive care Strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and creative problem-solving Ability to adapt quickly to existing caseloads, documentation systems, and team workflows Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable Working Conditions This position is performed on-site at the day program facility. The clinician will work in classroom, therapy room, sensory gym, outdoors in the sensory garden, and common area settings. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift therapeutic equipment, and engage at the child's level during sessions.
