Key Qualifications:

Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), with active AVCREP certification and Georgia PSC teaching certification required. Experience supporting visually impaired (VI) students across a range of age groups, ideally within a school setting. Strong ability to work independently, managing multiple caseloads and prioritizing dynamic student needs and travel. Skilled in developing, implementing, and tracking individualized O&M instructional plans and progress. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for partnering with educators, families, and special education teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored orientation and mobility instruction to VI students (grades 212) at several school locations, focusing on travel skills and independence. Collaborate with IEP teams to assess student needs, set goals, and monitor academic and functional progress. Flexibly schedule direct service and consultation based on student and IEP requirements. Provide hands-on training in a variety of environmentscampus, community, and public transitensuring safety and self-reliance. Keep thorough documentation and contribute to student evaluations and IEP meetings. Stay current with best practices and professional development in the field of orientation and mobility. This contract assignment runs from late July to late May, offering 37.5 hours per week of meaningful work within a vibrant educational community.
