9664332-27520 Job Description Occupational Therapists eager to apply their expertise in a dynamic school environment will thrive in this contract role on the western side of Wake County. Support students from elementary through high school in an engaging setting that values collaboration, evidence-based practice, and professional growth. This position operates on-site, with interviews underway now and a start date set for 30 days after acceptance. Applicants must hold a valid North Carolina Occupational Therapist license (NCBOT) and a post-graduate degree in Occupational Therapy (Masters or higher preferred). School-based experience is essential, with preference for those who have worked in North Carolina schools. Proficiency with IEPs, ECATS, and completion of motor screenings and OT evaluations is mandatory, as is experience applying the Sensory Processing Measure2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2 in a school setting. The role requires strong analytical skills for assessment interpretation related to students educational context and state standards, along with fluency in documentation for therapy services. Candidates must be able to obtain an NPI number, register with NC Tracks, and pass both DCDEE fingerprinting and the Wake CPS background check.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting motor screenings and comprehensive OT assessments for K12 students Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on IEP development and implementation Providing direct and consultative OT services tailored to educational contexts Documenting student progress according to district and state guidelines Actively participating in monthly workload reviews and team meetings This full-time opportunity offers approximately 37.5 hours weekly as a baseline, with potential to reach 40 hours based on district needs and workload assessments. Placement spans several schools on the western side of Wake County, with caseload specifics to be determined based on the districts workload model.
