9680995-28086 Job Description Empower students and support their independence by providing specialized orientation and mobility services within an educational setting. As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will deliver expert guidance to students with visual impairments, helping them safely and confidently navigate their school environments and beyond. This contract position runs from ASAP through May 26, 2027, with a flexible commitment of 10 hours per monthideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about fostering growth and self-sufficiency.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification or equivalent credential Experience working with children and adolescents in school settings Strong understanding of assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills Ability to tailor approaches to meet individual student needs and goals
Primary Responsibilities:
Assess students orientation and mobility requirements using standardized and functional methods Develop and implement individualized instruction plans to enhance safe, purposeful movement at school and in the community Instruct students in the use of canes, low vision aids, and adaptive mobility devices Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to integrate mobility training with educational programming Monitor progress, adjust interventions as necessary, and maintain accurate records Provide consultation and professional development to staff on effective strategies and best practices Enjoy a role where your expertise truly makes an impact, while benefiting from the flexibility of a part-time, long-term contract.
