Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Shape the educational journey for K-12 students by sharing your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract position runs from now through mid-June 2026, offering full-time hours and the opportunity to make a tangible impact across multiple districts. Within this onsite role, you'll assist students in Greene and Washington Counties, collaborating with local education professionals to foster independence and safety for those with visual impairments.
Qualifications:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) license required Prior experience working with children and adolescents (K-12) highly desirable Skilled in planning and implementing comprehensive orientation and mobility instruction Strong communication and organizational abilities Comfortable traveling between multiple school sites daily
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students, adapting strategies to fit a variety of abilities and learning styles Conduct functional vision and travel assessments for students with visual impairments Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to develop and update goals for student progress Maintain accurate records and track student outcomes Promote safe and effective community navigation, both within and beyond the school environment
