Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting students in a dynamic school setting. As an OMS, you will play a crucial role in empowering students with visual impairments to develop essential navigation and orientation skills. This assignment runs 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8/31/2026, covering a leave period. Each workday consists of 7.5 hours, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, structured for consistency and work-life balance.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credential Experience working in K-12 educational environments preferred Strong ability to adapt instructional techniques for students' individual needs Expertise in assessment and development of individualized mobility plans Effective communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families Ability to maintain documentation and monitor relevant progress
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of students' mobility needs Develop, implement, and adjust orientation and mobility training programs Instruct students in safe travel techniques both within school buildings and in the community Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support holistic student growth Maintain accurate records, assessment data, and progress updates as required by school guidelines Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure the best outcomes for students Perks of the
