Position Summary The Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, develops, and directs Occupational Therapy services in the facility in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and facility policies. The position is responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic care that supports residents' functional abilities, independence, safety, and overall quality of life. Key Responsibilities Review occupational therapy referrals and physicians' orders and evaluate residents' daily living skills, abilities, and limitations. Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on each resident's medical and social history. Provide individual, supervised, and group occupational therapy treatments. Teach residents basic living skills and promote participation in appropriate recreational and therapeutic activities. Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding modifications to therapy plans. Recommend or fabricate adaptive devices and equipment and train residents and caregivers in their appropriate use. Coordinate rehabilitation services with nursing, medical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Ensure treatment activities are consistent with residents' care plans and established standards of practice. Complete accurate, timely, and descriptive documentation of services and resident responses. Assist with resident assessments, MDS-related occupational therapy planning, and discharge planning. Record billable treatment time and submit required statistics and documentation to the billing office. Maintain resident treatment records, progress notes, and department files. Participate in Quality Assurance programs and facility committees as assigned. Maintain current knowledge and competency through continuing education and professional development. Follow all infection control, safety, emergency, resident rights, confidentiality, and abuse-prevention policies. Leadership & Team Responsibilities The Occupational Therapist may be responsible for supervising, training, and instructing Occupational Therapy Assistants and, when serving in a department-head or supervisory capacity, may assist with staffing, recruitment, performance evaluations, employee development, departmental policies, and quality improvement activities. The position works collaboratively with residents, families, nursing personnel, physicians, facility leadership, and other departments to support coordinated resident care and a positive therapeutic environment. Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current, unencumbered license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and other members of the care team. Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Ability to follow written and oral directions and established procedures. Ability to work effectively with elderly, ill, and/or disabled individuals.

Preferred:

Previous long-term care experience. Computer experience. Knowledge of equipment commonly used in long-term care, including lifts, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and scales. Physical & Working Requirements This position requires frequent movement throughout the workday, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The Occupational Therapist may need to lift or move residents and equipment and must be able to push, move, or carry a minimum of 50 pounds under the conditions outlined in the facility's job description. The position may also require assisting with resident evacuation during emergencies.
