Job DescriptionPart-Time Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) Achievement Pediatric Therapies Position Summary Achievement Pediatric Therapies is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) to provide pediatric outpatient occupational therapy services. This position includes one in-clinic treatment day each week dedicated primarily to evaluations and direct patient care, with the remaining responsibilities completed remotely. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating pediatric patients, developing and updating individualized plans of care, providing skilled occupational therapy services, supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with Alabama law, reviewing and co-signing COTA documentation, and ensuring high-quality, family-centered care. Work Schedule This is a part-time position . The Occupational Therapist is required to work one (1) full in-clinic day per week (9 hours) . This clinic day is dedicated primarily to: Occupational therapy evaluations Re-evaluations Direct patient treatment as needed Collaboration with clinic staff and families Clinical consultation with COTAs The remaining work hours may be completed remotely and include, but are not limited to: Reviewing and electronically co-signing COTA treatment notes. Completing evaluations, re-evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries. Developing and updating treatment plans and goals. Reviewing physician orders and certifications. Providing clinical supervision, consultation, and guidance to COTAs. Communicating with physicians, caregivers, referral sources, and clinic staff. Completing all required documentation and administrative responsibilities. Remote work hours are flexible; however, all documentation, supervisory responsibilities, physician certifications, and co-signatures must be completed within clinic-established timeframes. The Occupational Therapist is expected to remain reasonably available during normal business hours by phone or secure electronic communication for consultation with COTAs and clinic staff as needed. Essential Job ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient Care Evaluate pediatric patients and establish individualized plans of care. Perform re-evaluations and update treatment goals as clinically indicated. Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions as needed. Educate families regarding treatment recommendations and home programming. Clinical Supervision Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with Alabama licensure regulations and payer requirements. Review, approve, and electronically co-sign COTA treatment documentation within required timeframes. Provide ongoing clinical consultation, mentorship, and guidance to COTAs. Collaborate with COTAs to ensure treatment interventions remain consistent with the established plan of care. Documentation and Administrative Duties Complete evaluations, re-evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries in a timely manner. Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant documentation. Update plans of care and treatment goals as medically necessary. Obtain physician signatures and certifications as required. Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, social workers, physicians, schools, and caregivers. Patient Population The Occupational Therapist will provide services to children with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ADHD Developmental delays Sensory processing challenges Cerebral palsy Down syndrome Genetic disorders Neurological disorders Orthopedic conditions Fine motor, visual motor, and activities of daily living deficits Behavioral and emotional regulation challenges Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Current Alabama Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) license in good standing. NBCOT certification. Pediatric experience preferred. Experience supervising COTAs preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and clinical reasoning skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy principles and evidence-based interventions. Ability to evaluate and develop individualized treatment plans. Ability to supervise and mentor COTAs effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Knowledge of HIPAA, documentation requirements, and payer regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the clinic. Ability to lift, transfer, or assist pediatric patients as needed. Ability to safely manage children with behavioral, sensory, or physical challenges. Performance Expectations The Occupational Therapist is expected to: Maintain professional and ethical practice in accordance with the AOTA Code of Ethics and Alabama licensure requirements. Complete documentation and physician certifications within required timeframes. Provide timely supervision and consultation for COTAs. Review and electronically co-sign COTA documentation promptly. Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, and clinic staff. Participate in continuing education and professional development.
