Job Description

Step into an essential role supporting students independence and confidence in Southeast Texas! We are seeking a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist with active OMS and AVCREP (or comparable) certification to provide vital services to a school community beginning this August. Your work will empower students with visual impairments, helping them safely navigate their environments and gain vital life skills. Youll work approximately 20 hours per week on a contract basis during the 2026-2027 school year, with flexible scheduling around the academic calendar. The number of assigned campuses will be determined soon, and youll collaborate with administrators to finalize caseload specifics after an upcoming meeting with district leadership. As one of the few Orientation and Mobility Specialists in the region, your expertise will have a significant and immediate impactproviding support for an area with a critical need.
What were looking for:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification AVCREP or a similar recognized credential Experience working with children or young adults in educational settings preferred Responsive to urgent credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting for Texas school compliance Warm, adaptable communicator eager to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families Commitment to student-centered support and empowering learners with special needs Key responsibilities: Conduct assessments and develop individualized O&M instruction plans Deliver direct services that promote skills in safe movement, orientation, and travel Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and school staff to facilitate student goals Maintain up-to-date, accurate service documentation and progress records If you are passionate about helping students thrive and want to play a crucial part in a high-impact, rewarding setting, we want to connect with you.
