Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity awaits for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist passionate about helping students build independence and confidence. This part-time, on-site contract position is designed for an experienced professional to provide direct services to a middle school student in a supportive educational environment. The selected specialist will work at a single location and collaborate closely with educational staff, serving one student for 30 minutes twice weekly.

Necessary qualifications:

Current COMS (Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist) licensure is required Prior experience working in a school setting as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist is highly preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with students, families, and school staff Compassionate, detail-oriented, and dedicated to fostering developmental growth Ability to reliably travel to the assigned site within the Irving, TX area Key responsibilities: Provide targeted Orientation and Mobility training for a middle school student on a consistent, scheduled basis Assess student needs, create personalized instructional plans, and track progress toward established goals Document session outcomes, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with teachers and family members Attend and contribute to relevant student meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) reviews, and school consultations as needed Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal guidelines related to delivery of specialized services This contract role offers a convenient, part-time workload—totaling about one hour per week—and the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact on a student's path to greater independence.
