Duties Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving activities of daily living (ADLs), motor skills, and adaptive techniques. Assist patients with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence. Coordinate discharge planning by preparing clients and caregivers for ongoing care needs post-treatment. Collaborate with physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Manage medical documentation accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulations. Provide education and support to patients and families on managing disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorders, and implementing therapeutic strategies at home. Requirements Valid occupational therapy license or certification in the relevant state or region. Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders (including autism), or in pediatric occupational therapy settings. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and evidence-based practice principles. Experience working with diverse populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, acute care patients, ICU cases, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or school-based environments. Ability to develop effective treatment plans tailored to individual client needs and goals. Skilled in case management, discharge planning, and documentation within electronic health records (EHR). Excellent communication skills for client interaction and interprofessional collaboration. Knowledge of occupational therapy assessments and treatment techniques for physical rehabilitation and occupational health contexts.
