Key Qualifications:

Active Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or credentialed Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). Experience providing direct services and assessments to students with visual impairments. Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and related documentation. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, faculty, and families. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment. Flexibility to travel between school sites as needed.

Core Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments and deliver orientation and mobility instruction tailored to K-12 students with visual impairments. Develop and implement individualized strategies to promote safe navigation and maximize independence at school and in the community. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and parents to support student success. Offer training and resources to educational staff on mobility techniques and accessibility tools. Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights and recommendations for goals and strategies.
