Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Tacoma, WA seeks an Occupational Therapist to join our acute inpatient rehab team. You will evaluate patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex orthopedic conditions, and other disabling illnesses, and develop individualized treatment plans to restore independence and safety in daily activities. Working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment, you'll deliver evidence-based interventions, educate patients and families, document progress, and partner with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities Evaluate patients' functional abilities, movement, and cognitive skills following illness or injury Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans and goals Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve self-care, mobility, and daily living skills Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PTs, SLPs, and other rehab team members on coordinated care Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices Document assessments, progress notes, and discharge plans in the medical record accurately and timely Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning and goal setting Support safety, infection prevention, and quality standards in an acute inpatient rehab setting Mentor or precept students or new therapists as appropriate Engage in continuing education and professional development activities Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning Knowledge of neurorehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation Functional mobility and ADL retraining Splinting and positioning techniques Use and training of adaptive equipment and assistive devices Interdisciplinary care coordination and communication Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Patient and family education Discharge planning and home program development Understanding of rehab outcome measures and evidence-based practice
