Job Description

Occupational Therapist (OT-R) Indianhead Medical Center (IMC) is a 25-bed critical access facility that has been providing quality care to the surrounding communities for over 70 years. Services include inpatient, outpatient, clinical, surgical, rehabilitation with extensive inpatient and outpatient therapies, and emergency care. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Occupational Therapist (OT-R) to join Indianhead Medical Center. As an OT with IMC, you would work with a variety of patients both on-site in our newly remodeled therapy center and at our partner locations. You would enjoy a flexible schedule with variety in your week! Our Therapy department utilizes a team approach and takes pride in delivering care in a patient-centered environment. Our Therapy team provides personal and compassionate care through community, home and facility based services in the following settings: Inpatient, Outpatient, Local School District, Skilled Nursing Facility, County Birth - 3 Program. At IMC, an OT works to complete a diagnostic evaluation, develop a treatment plan, and implement that plan utilizing the team including COTA's. The OT will work to administer programs that restore or enhance performance in patients with functional impairments. The OT will monitor patient's performance in the therapeutic activities and provide encouragement and guidance, communicating with the Therapy team to provide the best care to the patient.
Additional Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Commitment to demonstrating professionalism and personal integrity through punctuality, honesty, an ability to follow instructions, proper attention to detail in all work manners, and a willingness to learn from others
  • An ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities in accordance with the needs and mission of the facility
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to delegate effectively and perform as the supervising therapist for the COTA you are working with
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of ages, cultures, and temperaments represented among facility staff and patients, treating others with respect and professionalism An OT-R at IMC must:
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Be a licensed OT-R in the State of Wisconsin
  • Have current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification (or complete within the first 3 months of hire)
  • Provide professional and compassionate patient care
  • Have a strong work ethic with a dependable and trustworthy nature
Summary of Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to effectively hear and see sufficiently to perform essential job functions.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift, and transfer patients or equipment in accordance with safe patient handling practices.
  • Ability to lift and move patients, equipment, and supplies using safe patient handling techniques and available assistive devices.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle changing situations, deal with a variety of personalities, and create a positive work environment.
  • Frequent exposure to: communicable diseases, biohazardous materials, disinfectants, cleaning agents. Compensation for this position ranges between $40.00 and $42.00 per hour based on skills and experience.
