Job Description Under general/direct supervision and according to UAHSF established policies and procedures, the Hand Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of hand therapy modalities for specific age and patient population of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

Qualifications Required:

Graduate from an American Occupational Therapy accredited academic program. Successful completion of the AOTA Registration Examination. Previous responsible work experience in clinical area of expertise; documented in fieldwork appraisals. Minimum of one year experience in hand therapy required or completion of a three (3) month internship at UAB Medicine's Hand Therapy clinic.

Preferred:

Five years of clinical upper extremity experience.
