COTA/OTA

is responsible for overseeing direct clinical skills, documentation skills, and the compliance to all professional standards. A review of performance will be conducted on a yearly basis. OTA's will be indirectly supervised by a OTR, will carry out treatment plans as established by the OTR, and will have documentation signed by the OTR.

Essential Duties:

Provides treatment for the residents who demonstrate disorders of musculoskeletal deficiencies, neurological conditions, balance disorders and transfer/gait deficits. Treatment will only be conducted after a written order is received from the physician. Responsible for the completion of all necessary documentation which includes but is not limited to the following items: ( All documentation will be co-signed by the OTR). Daily Treatment Encounter Note (TENS) Discharge recommendations All other required forms as designated by the facility.. Responsible for attending all required facility meetings as directed by DOR, ADOR or supervisor which includes but is not limited to: Medicare Meeting, Care Plan Meeting, Patient/Family Team Meetings, patient staffing meetings and in-services. Develop programs appropriate to the needs of the residents in the facility to assist them in achieving their highest feasible level of functioning. Assist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain and maintain state, federal, and other appropriate certifications. Employ and follow all appropriate facility infection control policies and procedures and will respect and follow OBRA Residents Rights Guidelines. Responsible for the appropriate scheduling of residents on caseload in addition to all required in-services and meetings. Responsible to maintain or exceed productivity levels and will inform the

if productivity consistently falls below or exceeds level to indicate the need for additional staffing or for assistance in screening and identifying residents in need of OT services. Present themselves in a professional manner at all times including professional conduct, professional communication and appropriate dress while in the facility. Will carry out other duties as assigned by the DOR/ADOR or supervisor. Will work with safety in mind at all times: Assures that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing duties. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor. Follow established fire safety policies and procedures. Assures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clear, safe, comfortable and attractive manner. Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as: unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc. Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as directed. Is aware of the Resident Abuse Law and his/her responsibilities related to such. Assist with resident/patient assignment as deemed necessary by DON. Qualifications Completion of 2 year Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program. Maintain State Licensure Must possess the ability to: Relate to and work with ill, disabled elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility Follow written and oral instructions; make independent decisions; accept direction and corrective comments Deal tactfully and work harmoniously with personnel, resident's, family members, and visitors Seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices Function independently Be flexible, and demonstrate personal integrity Share job details to
