COMPENSATION
$30.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. The COTA works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide skilled occupational therapy services to residents. The ideal candidate is dependable, resident-focused, and committed to helping individuals improve their independence and quality of life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide occupational therapy treatments according to established plans of care developed by the Occupational Therapist. Assist residents in improving their ability to perform activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and mobility-related tasks. Implement therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions designed to improve strength, coordination, balance, endurance, and functional independence. Monitor resident progress and communicate changes in condition or performance to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Accurately and timely document treatments, resident responses, and progress in accordance with facility, regulatory, and reimbursement requirements. Educate residents, families, caregivers, and staff regarding therapeutic techniques and safety recommendations as appropriate. Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, social services, and other departments. Maintain resident safety and follow infection-control, HIPAA, and facility policies and procedures. Assist with adaptive equipment and techniques designed to improve resident independence and safety. Perform other related duties within the COTA scope of practice as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current New York State authorization/licensure to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, as applicable. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current CPR certification as required by the facility. Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or geriatric care preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
COMPENSATION
