We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team and work closely with our Occupational Therapist to deliver exceptional patient care. Position Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement treatment plans designed to improve patients' ability to perform daily activities. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, organized, and experienced in orthopedic, hand therapy, workers' compensation, and post-surgical rehabilitation. Responsibilities Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Assist patients in improving strength, coordination, range of motion, fine motor skills, and activities of daily living. Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and functional activities. Monitor patient progress and report findings to the Occupational Therapist. Document treatment sessions accurately and timely in the EHR system. Educate patients on home exercise programs and injury prevention techniques. Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies. Ensure compliance with clinic policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations. Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes. Qualifications Required 1-3 years experience in orthopedic, hand therapy, sports medicine, workers' compensation, or post-surgical rehabilitation. Current California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in good standing. Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current CPR/BLS certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Knowledge of therapeutic exercises, treatment techniques, and rehabilitation protocols. Preferred Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Chinese is a plus. Skills Patient Care and Rehabilitation Therapeutic Exercise Instruction Range of Motion and Functional Training Documentation and Charting Patient Education Workers' Compensation Experience (Preferred)
