As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a school-based environment, you'll partner with educators, fellow therapists, and families to make a lasting difference in students' daily experiences. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to work alongside passionate professionals dedicated to fostering inclusive, supportive classrooms.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current certification as a COTA. Valid licensure in the state of California. Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued, though not required. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to diverse learning settings. Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and empowering them to overcome challenges.
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver direct occupational therapy services as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborate with occupational therapists to implement treatment strategies supporting students' fine motor, sensory, and self-help skill development. Assist in documenting student progress and participate in IEP meetings as needed. Adapt and modify classroom materials or activities to meet students' unique needs. Use creative problem-solving to support student engagement and functional independence. Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure seamless support.
