As a COTA, you'll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help residents improve their ability to perform everyday activities and maintain as much independence as possible. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with older adults and making a meaningful difference in their daily lives. What You'll Do Treat residents according to care plans developed by the Occupational Therapist Help residents work on daily living skills such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, and cognitive skills Observe resident progress and communicate updates or concerns to the OT Teach residents how to safely use adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies Assist with positioning, splinting, and seating as directed Complete documentation accurately and on time Follow safety, infection control, and privacy guidelines Work closely with nursing staff and other therapy team members What We're Looking For Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current COTA certification and state licensure in good standing (or eligible)
BLS & CPI
certification or willingness to obtain (Classes offered) Experience in a nursing home or skilled nursing facility is preferred, but not required Skills That Matter Enjoys working with older adults and individuals with physical or cognitive challenges Strong communication and teamwork skills Organized, dependable, and able to follow treatment plans Patient, compassionate, and respectful approach to care Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with resident mobility and positioning Comfortable working in a clinical environment
