Your expertise will support individuals of all ages—pediatrics, geriatrics, and those with neurodevelopmental or physical disabilities—by assisting with treatment plans, implementing therapy activities, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence and safety. Implement individualized treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, focusing on improving motor skills, cognitive function, and sensory processing. Support pediatric occupational therapy programs for children with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder by engaging in therapeutic activities tailored to their needs. Help manage care documentation accurately, including progress notes, treatment records, and care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations. Facilitate patient transport within facilities or to appointments while ensuring safety through manual handling techniques. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals—including physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and caregivers—to optimize client outcomes. Contribute to care plan adjustments based on client progress and changing needs across inpatient, outpatient, home health, or skilled nursing settings. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience working in acute care settings or skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and care documentation standards. Experience supporting occupational therapy for clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or disabilities across age groups. Strong communication skills for engaging with clients' families and caregivers effectively. Ability to assist with ADLs and perform manual handling safely in various environments including hospitals and homes. Familiarity with pediatric occupational therapy techniques and experience working with children experiencing developmental delays is advantageous.
