Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in occupational therapy practices, with experience working across various settings such as inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. This role involves assisting licensed occupational therapists in delivering personalized therapy services to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. Responsibilities Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, and mobility assistance. Contribute to treatment plan execution by facilitating therapeutic exercises and interventions for clients with childhood developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder. Help with patient transport within healthcare facilities while ensuring safety through proper manual handling techniques. Maintain accurate care documentation and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure cohesive patient care delivery. Support patients during therapy sessions by applying physiologically sound techniques rooted in anatomy and physiology knowledge. Assist in managing medical imaging procedures when necessary and ensure proper use of medical terminology during documentation. Participate in outpatient or inpatient therapy sessions focused on geriatrics, neurodevelopmental disorders, or occupational health cases. Uphold safety standards by practicing proper manual handling and adhering to infection control protocols. Qualifications Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program is required. Prior experience working in acute care settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health is highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in pediatric occupational therapy, including interventions for childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and treatment plan implementation is essential. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred. Strong communication skills for engaging with clients, caregivers, and healthcare team members effectively. Ability to perform manual handling safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers. Familiarity with care documentation standards and compliance requirements across various healthcare environments.
