Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - PRN to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to skilled nursing, and long- term care residents. Your expertise will help clients achieve their functional goals and improve their quality of life. This position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability while making a meaningful difference in patients' recovery journeys. Responsibilities Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing personalized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility, ensuring safety and independence. Facilitate treatment plan execution by applying manual handling techniques and therapeutic exercises aligned with physiologic and anatomical principles. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and caregivers—to optimize patient outcomes. Document care activities accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and medical terminology standards. Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments, ensuring safe handling and communication throughout the process. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience working in acute care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and implement treatment plans effectively Knowledge of medical imaging procedures, care documentation standards, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy. Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or disabilities requiring specialized interventions. Strong communication skills for engaging with clients and caregivers to promote understanding and cooperation. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while providing patient care in various settings. Familiarity with inpatient or outpatient therapy protocols, including pediatrics and occupational health environments.
Florida Background Screening Requirement:
This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida law.
