Job Description

Join Our Team at Patients First Home Care We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide high-quality in-home therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Key Responsibilities Provide skilled occupational therapy services to patients in their homes under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT). Assist the OT in evaluating patients and developing rehabilitative plans of care, including periodic reevaluations as needed. Participate in preparing clinical and daily progress notes; submit all notes within 72 hours. Assist with periodic summary reports as required. Instruct patients and families in exercise programs and therapeutic activities to enhance physical, mental, and functional abilities. Guide patients in the use of selfhelp devices and therapeutic selfcare activities. Identify and report ineffective drug therapy, adverse reactions, allergies, significant side effects, or contraindicated medications to the OT. Observe and document patient activities, reactions to treatment, and any changes in condition, report findings to the OT and physician. Consult with the OT about outcomes of home visits and provide written physical findings. Instruct home health aides and family members on portions of the occupational therapy program as appropriate. Participate in staff meetings and case conferences. Instruct patients in the use and care of wheelchairs, braces, splints, prosthetic devices, and orthotic equipment. Assist with discharge planning and contribute to Occupational Therapy Discharge Summaries. Confirm weekly visit schedules with the Supervisor/Clinical Manager. Perform other duties as assigned by the OT. Qualifications Graduation from an ACOTE accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant education program. Eligibility for, or successful completion of, the NBCOT entrylevel certification examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Must be licensed or registered as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Florida. Requirements A level II background screening is required for this position https://info.flclearinghouse.com Current Driver's License with current auto insurance CEU on Elderly Abuse, Human Trafficking and Alzheimer's/Dementia TB test results CPR Certification.
