Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where you will play a vital role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life through personalized therapeutic interventions. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will collaborate with occupational therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care across various settings, including inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. Your expertise will support patients of all ages—from pediatrics to geriatrics—by assisting with daily activities, developing care plans, and promoting functional recovery. Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence and improve overall well-being Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, ensuring patient safety and progress monitoring Support patients in rehabilitation settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits Contribute to the development and adjustment of individualized care plans based on patient progress and needs Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety techniques, and adaptive equipment usage Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care that aligns with medical imaging reports, physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program Proven experience assisting with ADLs across diverse settings such as inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles Experience working with pediatric populations (pediatrics) as well as adult and geriatric patients (geriatrics) Familiarity with care planning processes and implementing therapy interventions in accordance with established protocols Ability to work effectively in inpatient and outpatient settings while demonstrating excellent patient care skills Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities or acute care environments is highly desirable
Florida Background Screening Requirement:
This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida law.
