  • The role you will contribute:
  • + Implements treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist through consideration of practice standards, recommended techniques, insurance guidelines, and patient needs.

+ Uses appropriate therapy procedures, documents data, and follows individualized care plans set by the occupational therapist.

+ Provides patient and family education, including home exercise programs for treatment carryover into the discharge setting.

+ Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures, and other extensions of clinical expertise to the community.

+ Conducts age-appropriate assessments and interventions, completing annual age-specific competencies relevant to the scope of care.

+ Acts as a clinical instructor and provides mentorship to students and new staff, fostering a supportive and educational environment.

+ Engages in ongoing review of occupational therapy and rehab policies and procedures, making recommendations for updates as needed.

+ Documents interventions and patient progress accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology in line with standards of practice, insurance guidelines, and department/hospital policies and procedures.

+ Maintains productivity standards as defined by the department and adjusts work hours to meet the needs of the patients as required.

+ Ensures patient safety and adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including infection control, equipment training, and safety programs.

+ Participates in performance improvement initiatives and educational events to maintain clinical competencies and adhere to professional and evidence-based practices.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

+ Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English effectively.

+ Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic forms.

+ Entry level knowledge and application of principles of medical occupational therapy for therapeutic diagnostics and treatment.
