Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered care, implementing treatment plans, and documenting patient progress across inpatient and outpatient settings. You'll assist patients in restoring functional independence through therapeutic activities and education. Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and use of adaptive equipment Assist patients in improving activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and feeding Observe, measure, and document patient responses and progress in the electronic health record Communicate patient status, concerns, and progress to the supervising occupational therapist and care team Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and use of assistive devices Support discharge planning by providing input on functional status and home safety needs Ensure a safe treatment environment and adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other therapists to coordinate comprehensive patient care Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and competency training as required by Ohio Health Required Skills Implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans Knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation principles Proficiency with therapeutic exercises and functional training techniques Use and instruction of adaptive and assistive equipment Patient observation, assessment, and clinical documentation Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Infection control and safety procedures Patient and family education Interdisciplinary care coordination Time management and caseload prioritization Basic computer literacy and clinical software use Understanding of occupational therapy ethics and regulatory guidelines
